Gameplay

The Board consists of two main parts:

  •  Bench: When units are summoned from hand, they are placed on the Bench

  •  Battlefield / Combat Zone: To begin with, the battle between units in LOR are all 1v1 to make it fair. In order to commence an Attack or Defense against an enemy unit, a unit must be dragged from the Bench to the Battlefield/Combat Zone. In addition, players may leave the units they wish to remain healthy on the Bench, instead of forcing all of them to battle.

  •  Attacking and Blocking: When a unit declares an attack, it is placed on the Battlefield/Combat Zone, where many powerful effects take place. To be specific, these effects only take place ONLY when the corresponding unit declares an attack. Example: Challenger, Double Attack, Overwhelm, Quick Attack, Strike, Support, and the like. On the other hand, in order to Defend against an opponent’s unit, players are to drag the desired unit from the Bench and place it directly facing the attacking unit. As a result of the battle, both the Attacking & Blocking units takes damage from each other, according to each other’s Attack points, and the damage taken is deducted from the units’ HP.

  •  Players play in rounds, each round a player will be the offender and the other will be the defender. Each round starts with both players gaining 1 max Mana, up to 10.

  •  In a round, players take turns starting as the attacker, where the order is decided randomly in the beginning of the match. A player can play cards in their turn, or pass. If both players pass without acting, the round ends.

  •  All cards have a Mana cost, and are unplayable unless a player has enough available Mana to use the card. Spells have access to a special pool of Mana called “Spell Mana“. Unused Mana at the end of the turn will be converted into spell Mana, up to a max of 3. Unit summoning consumes the Normal/Main Mana bar; spells use spell Mana before using the Normal/Main Mana.

  •  When playing a Unit card, whether a Champion or Follower, the unit is moved from the hand to the bench.

  •  In order to commence an attack, players are to move units from the bench to the Combat Zone/Battlefield. Once the attacker has decided which units are to be sent to battle on the Combat Zone from the bench, they may press the “Attack Button”, giving the opponent the chance to then block or plan defense.

  •  If a player doesn’t have units readied for defense against upcoming attacks, their Nexus will be directly attacked by the opponent.

  •  The player who is able reduce the enemy’s nexus HP to 0 or achieve a winning condition with their card effects, wins the game.

  •  The maximum capacity of a player’s hand is 10 cards, 6 units on the bench, and 6 units on the battlefield. Cards that exceed this limit will be Obliterated.

  •  Each deck is composed of 40 cards, of which up to 6 can be Champion All cards have a max limit of 3 copies per deck.

  •  If the game reaches the 40th round, the game ends in a tie.
