Regions

Every character and card in the game comes from a region of  Runeterra. The unique playstyle of this game allows players to combine up to two regions in creating their decks.

Currently, there are seven major regions:

Demacia

Demacia emphasizes on swarming the board and buffing the army in order to make up for the lack of damaging spells. Pressuring enemies with strong board presence, which forces them into combat and burn their spells.

Freljord

Freljord has more late-game control type of cards, the only region with access to mana generation to survive early game. Usually focusing on a few powerful units, crowd control effects, and mana ramp mechanics for a powerful late game.

  • Champions of Freljord:
  • New Champion:

Ionia

Ionia has tricky mechanics that allow you to outmaneuver your opponents with stealthy tactics and the utilization of returning units from the board back to hand.

  • Champions of Ionia:
  • New Champion:

Noxus

Noxus focuses on relentless early game aggression – utilizing direct damage spells and low-cost creatures with aggressive stats (High attack but low health). Sacrifcing defense for more offense power, resulting in the lack of end-game cards and can run out of steam against bulkier decks.

  • Champions of Noxus:
  • New Champion:

Piltover & Zaun

Piltover & Zaun is a primarily spell-based deck that focuses on constantly drawing and chaining spell effects. They are highly flexible with both the offensive and defensive aspects of the game.

  • Champions of Piltover & Zaun:
  • New Champion:

Shadow Isles

Shadow Isles deck is all about witchery and necromancy! They feature powerful removal cards and are the only region with access to Sacrifice allies, Drain, and Steal mechanics. They are also the only region that revives units from the graveyard.

  • Champions of Shadow Isles:
  • New Champion:

Bilgewater (New Region!)

As a new region revealed, Bilgewater is considered versatile in terms of the directions you can build, with mechanics that can be risky but very rewarding once you’re able to make the right call. Whether an explosive playstyle where you quickly gun your opponent down with heavy artillery and ammunition or playing control type to stall for late game deep sea creatures, you’ll find absolute satisfaction in both the aggro and control aspects.

Each region has a distinct playstyle and strategic advantage, but combining cards from two different regions create interesting synergies that may surprise you!
